Explore our Facade & Glazing capability

Facade Access and Maintenance: Planning How the Building Gets Cleaned

Why facade access must be designed with the facade — cradle systems, anchors, rope access and why a building nobody can reach does not get maintained.

Facade Retrofit and Recladding: Replacing an Envelope in Use

How an existing facade is surveyed, assessed and replaced — what to investigate first, overclad versus replace, and working on an occupied building.

Structural Glazing Systems: Glass Held by Silicone, Not by Frames

How structural silicone glazing works, where the load actually goes, why the bond must be factory-applied, and what maintenance a bonded facade needs.

Aluminium Doors & Windows — System and Custom Fenestration

System and custom aluminium fenestration for commercial and high-rise projects, engineered to IS 733 and ECBC 2017 fenestration U-value standards.

Architectural Elements — Canopies, Pergolas, Skylights, Balusters

Entrance canopies, pergolas, skylights and balusters engineered for wind uplift and drainage — fabricated in-house and coordinated with the facade.

Cladding — ACP, Metal, Tile and Stone

ACP, solid aluminium, metal, tile and stone cladding with fire-rated cores, engineered to NBC 2016 and EN 13501-1 fire safety standards.

Curtain Wall Systems — Unitised, Semi-Unitised and Conventional

Unitised, semi-unitised and stick curtain wall — engineered, fabricated in-house and installed to IS 875 Part 3 wind loads and ASTM E283/E331 testing.

Frameless Doors — Patch Fitted and Automatic Sliding

Patch-fitted frameless glass doors and automatic sliding entrances for lobbies, showrooms and offices — engineered, supplied and installed in-house.

Railings — Aluminium, Stainless, MS and Glass

Aluminium, stainless, MS and structural glass railing systems engineered to IS 875 Part 2 handrail loading, with 316-grade SS for coastal exposure.

Facade Rain-Screen Ventilated Systems

Imported ventilated envelope systems with drained cavities and cavity barriers, engineered to NBC 2016 Part 4 fire and ECBC 2017 envelope standards.

Spider Glazing — Routels, Glass Fins and Tie Rods

Point-fixed spider glazing with routels, glass fins and tie rods for atria, lobbies and showrooms — engineered, fabricated in-house and installed.

Wall & Roof Insulation — PIR, Rock Wool and Envelope Panels

Imported high-performance wall and roof insulation, PIR and rock wool panels for industrial and commercial envelopes, specified to ECBC 2017 U-values.

Facade & Glazing: common questions

A curtain wall is the non-load-bearing outer skin of a building, hung from the structure floor by floor. Structural glazing is one way of fixing the glass within it: the glass is bonded to the frame with structural silicone so no metal cap shows on the outside. A curtain wall can be structurally glazed, capped, or a mix of the two.

Unitized panels are assembled and glazed in a factory and installed floor by floor, which gives better quality control and faster enclosure, and suits taller buildings and repetitive facades. Stick-built systems are assembled piece by piece on site, which suits smaller or irregular facades. Our unitized vs stick-built comparison sets out the trade-offs in detail.

Unitized vs stick-built curtain wall

The design wind pressure is worked out for the specific building from IS 875 (Part 3), using its location, height, terrain and shape, with higher pressures at corners and edges. Frames, glass, brackets and anchors are then checked against that pressure. The value is specific to each building, so it cannot be taken from another project.

Shop drawings translate the architect's design into what will actually be fabricated: every profile, joint, bracket, anchor and sealant line. They are where the facade is coordinated with the structure's tolerances and the building services, and approving them is the last point where changes are cheap. Our facade deliverables include design, engineering and shop drawings.

Typically water tightness checks on installed sections, sealant adhesion checks, and inspection of anchors and brackets before they are covered. Larger projects may also specify a performance mock-up tested for air, water and structural behaviour before production. What is tested should be written into the specification so it happens before handover.
