# PEB Roofing & Wall Cladding

> PEB roofing and wall cladding is the metal envelope of an industrial building: single-skin sheeting or PIR and rock wool insulated panels, with skylights, ventilators, flashings and gutters. Single-skin versus insulated panel sets the heat gain, while most roof leaks come from fasteners, laps and penetrations rather than the sheet itself.

## What we deliver

**Roof and wall sheeting, insulated sandwich panels, skylights, ventilators,
flashings and gutters** for PEB and industrial buildings — the envelope that
decides how hot the building runs and whether it stays dry.

On an industrial building the envelope is most of the building's surface area,
and the roof takes the most sun. Its specification sets the inside temperature,
the lighting load and the running cost for as long as the building stands.

## Scope of works

| Element | What we deliver |
| --- | --- |
| Roof sheeting | Single-skin or insulated panel, fixed to purlins |
| Wall cladding | Sheeting or insulated panel on girts |
| Insulation | PIR or rock wool panels where specified |
| Daylighting | Polycarbonate or FRP skylight sheets |
| Ventilation | Turbo ventilators, ridge vents, louvres |
| Rainwater | Gutters, downpipes, valley details |
| Flashings | Ridges, eaves, corners, penetrations |

## Where projects go wrong

- **Fastener spacing uniform across the roof.** Edges and corners need closer
  spacing for wind uplift.
- **Laps not sealed or too short.** The most common cause of industrial roof
  leaks.
- **Penetrations poorly flashed.** Every ventilator and pipe is a potential leak.
- **Skylights without insulation strategy.** They bring daylight and heat.
- **Gutters undersized.** A large roof sheds a great deal of water quickly.

## Why Hagerstone

**Envelope experience across industrial and commercial work** — our Director –
Facade has led PIR panel and rock wool panel envelope projects, including
6,500 sq. m. at the Anygraphics factory in Noida — so roofing is detailed by
people who handle insulated envelopes, not only sheeting.

**In-house fitters and a 53-member site team**, under ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001
and 79+ quality checkpoints.

## Frequently asked questions

### Single-skin sheeting or insulated panels?

Single-skin metal sheeting is the economical choice for storage sheds where temperature does not matter much. Insulated sandwich panels — PIR or rock wool between two metal skins — cost more but cut heat gain dramatically, which matters for any building with people working inside, temperature-sensitive goods, or air conditioning. The roof takes the most sun, so it is usually the first place to insulate.

### Why do industrial roofs leak?

Mostly at fasteners, laps and penetrations rather than through the sheet itself. Over-tightened or under-tightened screws, side laps not sealed, end laps too short for the roof slope, and poorly flashed penetrations for ventilators and pipes account for most leaks. They are installation issues, and they are avoided by detailing and supervision rather than a better sheet.

### Is wind uplift a real concern for sheds?

Yes. Large roofs see significant suction under wind, especially at edges, corners and ridges, and roofing failures in storms usually start there. Fastener spacing has to be closer in those zones than across the middle of the roof, based on the wind loading for the site under IS 875 Part 3.
